Reel As Dirt is the creation of Ten-time Emmy®-winning filmmaker Greg Kohs, who has applied his grounded, emotional, human storytelling to all of his branded content, commercial and feature film work.
Kohs, a member of the DGA, is a proud native of the Motor City and graduate of Notre Dame. He honed his signature “captured not contrived” storytelling aesthetic at NFL Films right out of college. It was during his tenure there that he received an astounding ten Emmy Awards®.
Kohs’ uniquely soulful and genuine style of visual storytelling has been brought to bear in award-winning commercials and branded content for international clients ranging from Apple, Google, Nike, Mastercard, Disney, EA Sports and Titleist, while collaborating with some of the top agencies like 72andSunny, Wieden+Kennedy, Mullen, Arnold, the Martin Agency, Y&R and many others.
Selected as an elite "Goose Person" by luxuray brand, Canada Goose, Greg has an interest in projects with soul, and a particular passion for those of his subjects who doggedly pursue their own passions. He crafts these stories with an eye towards visually striking and honest imagery.
Greg’s feature films include award-winning Song Sung Blue, which the late Roger Ebert hailed as “Superb,” and his most recent award-winning documentary The Great Alone, which chronicles the incredible comeback journey of cancer survivor and four-time Iditarod champion Lance Mackey.
A native of Detroit, Michigan, Kohs now lives outside of Philadelphia with his wife and three children.
